Nonprofit Membership Program
Venture Forward (VF) is proud to offer a nonprofit membership program to organizations of all sizes and missions in Tennessee, North Georgia and Alabama.
Membership with VF allows all staff, board members and volunteers of an organization to take advantage of the benefits detailed below. If you have questions about VF’s nonprofit membership program, please email Director of Membership and Development Venture Forward, Rachael Horn or call her direct line, 423-752-0309.
This is one of Venture Forward’s most widely used member resources. So far, in 2017, VF’s nonprofit job postings board has received over 174,000 views. Our members value this resource, as the postings yield highly qualified candidates who are truly interested in nonprofit employment. The job postings board provides substantial savings to our nonprofits, eliminating costs of commercial job search sites and recruiter fees.
Venture Forward hosts a number of workshops each month. These workshops range from one hour sessions to full day classes on topics such as grant writing, board development, volunteer management, marketing, special event planning and human resources. To help offset some of the expense of training, VF also offers partial scholarships to reduce workshop fees for qualified organizations who are members of Venture Forward.
Venture Forward offers consulting services to nonprofits in the tri-state area. Our staff are Boardsource qualified facilitators, which means we can help your organization understand the roles and responsibilities of board service. We also facilitate the strategic planning process and provide guidance for the operational issues. Partial scholarships are available to offset a portion of the cost for consulting services for Venture Forward member organizations. Please contact Laura McCann, Executive Director of Venture Forward, with any inquiries regarding consulting services at (423) 752-0351.
Grant Research and Writing Assistance
Venture Forward is a Funding Information Network partner of the Foundation Center's Foundation Directory, a grant research database. This allows our community to access a national database of public, private, and corporate foundations.
GrantStation, an online research tool, publishes a bi-weekly newsletter, the GrantStation Insider. This publication provides information on government grants as well as public and private funds. Employees of Venture Forward member organization are able to sign up to receive these announcements.
Grant Writing Classes
Venture Forward offers a three-part grant series twice a year. We also can refer you to grant writing professionals. We also provide classes on data collection and analysis which help our nonprofit members capture the information and outcomes necessary to secure a grant.
Venture Forward’s resource library is open to everyone, but only current VF members are able to check out books on a variety of nonprofit specific topics. Browse our resource library online, or contact us for inquiries.
Volunteer/Board Member Recruitment
In partnership with United Way’s Volunteer Center, member organizations gain access to a new volunteer recruitment, management and reporting platform, www.ihelpchattanooga.org.
For assistance with recruitment of volunteers or use of the platform, Venture Forward can connect you with Justin Whitaker, Director of the Volunteer Center. You can also call Hannah directly at (423) 752-0346.
Venture Forward publishes a weekly electronic newsletter with event and training updates, trending topics and grant opportunities. We do not promote fundraisers but are happy to share the word about nonprofit educational events. In addition, a monthly postcard is published providing information on upcoming workshops and events.
Please contact Rachael Horn at (423) 752-0309 if you would like to be added to the distribution list for either the e-newsletter or postcard.
