The mission of Girls Inc. of Chattanooga is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Our comprehensive approach to whole girl development equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent.

Originally founded as The Girls Club of Chattanooga, Girls Inc. has educated and empowered girls since 1961. Through in-school, after school and full day camps, our organization annually serves a diverse group of more than 700 girls, ages 6 to 18. Girls Inc. of Chattanooga is an affiliate of Girls Inc., which serves more than 144,000 girls annually through a network of 83 affiliates across the US and Canada.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to research, prepare, create, and update grant proposals, cover letters, letters of inquiry/interest

• Submit grant proposals both electronically and via mail in a timely manner based on deadlines and funder requirements

• Track and update program information necessary to submit monthly and or yearly activity reports. Be available and able to answer questions regarding submission and reporting activity

• Ability to lead grant meetings and attend donor interviews

• Research and propose new grant opportunities which fit the needs of programing and manage grant database as needed

• Ability to recommend new grant proposals that align with organizations strategic plan

• Communication with programming and ability to learn program content a must

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Energetic and passionate about community and the organization

• Strong written communication skills, both creative and technical; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals

• Strong editing skills, highly detail oriented; ability to meet grant proposal and report deadlines

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team

• Experience with proposal writing and grant search engines

• Excellent computer skills and experience

• Superior time management skills


• Minimum of two years’ experience with grant writing preferred

• Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals

Job Type:

Part-Time – max. 40 hours per month
