Development and Corporate Partnerships Manager

(Note: We are recruiting for two positions: Membership and Communications Coordinator, and Development/Corporate Partnerships Coordinator) Job descriptions may be realigned depending on candidate skill sets.

Reports to: Executive Director

Function: Under the direction and supervision of the Medical Society Executive Director, oversees all Development functions, corporate partner development, and fundraising event management for the Medical Society, Medical Foundation, and Medical Personnel Services. Position may include media relations and communications.

Development and Corporate Partnerships

 In conjunction with the Executive Director, produces an annual development plan that identifies potential partners and funding sources for Medical Society and Medical Foundation programs

 Coordinates the Corporate Sponsor program, including identifying and recruiting corporate sponsors and developing and managing corporate sponsor activities and relationships

 Identify, cultivate and solicit philanthropic partnerships with companies committed to facilitate research to develop strategies for mutual benefit

 Responsible for identifying prospects, developing and proposing strategies for the cultivation of corporate partners and potential corporate sponsorships

 Determine specific purpose and level of partnership and identify those to be involved in cultivation and subsequent solicitation

 Maintain an effective program of stewardship of corporate partners

 Generates advertising revenues from all sources to support publication of annual directory and other publications

Marketing and External Relations

 Assist the Manager of Medical Personnel Services and the Executive Director to execute and evaluate external client relations, including MPS client relations and new client development; Medical Society membership retention and recruitment, including member prospect contacts and application support; Project Access participant recruitment

 Serves as liaison between community organizations in outreach initiatives

Position may include Media Relations and Communications

 Coordinates media relations, including media outreach, development of news releases and materials, contact with media, scheduling interviews and media coverage

 Edits and oversees online production of Chattanooga Medicine, the Medical Society newsletter

 Manages the Medical Society’s InfoSTAT broadcast email activities

 Manages organizations website,;,, and

 Manages social media accounts for organizations

Events. The manager plans, manages, executes, and participates in all Medical Society and Medical Foundation sponsored events, including lead role in Annual Gala and Fundraising events (Denim & Diamonds) and other special membership events

Other duties as assigned by the Medical Society Executive Director

Knowledge and Experience:

 Bachelor’s degree in related field (or bachelor’s degree in unrelated field and commensurate experience in the marketing/communications/membership/development arena).

 Progressively responsible experience and training.

 At least five years of successful, direct experience in marketing, membership, communications, and development in a nonprofit or membership environment.

 Strong skills in desktop publishing, basic design, ability to produce newsletters and other publications on tight timelines. Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, as well as Adobe InDesign Suite software. Experience managing membership and other databases. Experience maintaining websites..


 Develop and maintain effective relationships with the media, members, corporate partners, board members, and staff.

 Demonstrated ability to relate well to, and understand the needs and interests of corporations in order to develop relationships, including determining when and how a corporation can be successfully solicited for a gift.

 Ability to promote the communications, membership, fundraising and strategic priorities by developing excellent working relations with other staff members, physician members, and related organizations.

 Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.

 Able to work under pressure of deadlines and dollar goals

 Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required

 Must be available for weekend and evening work, as required.
