Computer Skills Training Instructor- Chattanooga Goodwill Industries


Work with individuals who have barriers to employment and participate in the achievement of their goals.  To coordinate and implement the Chattanooga Goodwill Computer Skills Training concept as necessary to reach the objectives agreed to in the Google Digital Skills Accelerator grant. Coordinate and communicate all Chattanooga Goodwill Computer skills maintenance needs.  Work closely with the Vice President of Missions to ensure a quality educational experience for computer skills participants.  Work closely with the Vice President of Missions to ensure proper record keeping of all Computer skills activities and accurate reporting.  Be a positive role model to promote individual student needs.  Display commitment and involvement towards Goodwill’s mission


  • Support and sustain a program culture conducive to adult learning and professional growth

  • Teach Microsoft Office Suite and or its Google-based equivalent

  • To provide supervision and operational support for the Goodwill Computer Skills training class

  • Ability to effectively communicate and assist volunteers, students, parents and applicants.

  • Provide the necessary contracts, forms, supportive services, and documentation in an efficient and timely manner

  • Maintenance of all records and files as required.

  • Provide a quality classroom learning environment for all Computer Skills class participants

  • Act as a Goodwill ambassador to all Chattanooga communities

  • Provide functional supervision and leadership for the Chattanooga Goodwill Computer Skills program 

  • Be responsible for the safety of all students, participants, and staff. Report any violations.

  • Interact appropriately with other employees and community professionals

  • Be able to communicate computer concepts to persons with multiple barriers to employment as well as persons who have learning disabilities.  

  • Adhere to all safety policies and report violations

  • Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality

  • Other assigned functions as deemed necessary by the Vice President of Missions to meet the requirements of the grant. 

  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.



  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education with a reasonable background and ongoing interest in technology is preferred.  Minimum requirement is an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science plus experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.

  • Must pass a background check and drug screen

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. 

  • Must be an energetic team player who possesses the desire to positively impact the community and create significant change in the lives of others. 

  • Problem solving skills and ability to improvise, adapt, and overcome is a strong plus. 

  • Must have effective classroom management and policy enforcement skills

  • Must have the ability to form lesson plans,  

  • Must have effective communication skills, modern technology skills, conflict resolution skills, and ability to work with students of all levels,

  • Excellent problem solving and coaching skills

  • Excellent oral, written, and inter-personal communications.
