ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY - The Kidney Foundation of the Greater Chattanooga Area was chartered on October 30, 1989 as an independent organization and is not affiliated with the National Kidney Foundation.
MISSION STATEMENT - The mission of the Kidney Foundation is to provide assistance and information to those diagnosed with kidney disease. The vision is to be the leading resource of support to those individuals including: direct patient aid, education, awareness, and prevention that improve the community’s quality of life.
JOB SUMMARY - The Development Director will be the main link between the community and the Kidney Foundation. The Development Director will play a key role in planning, achieving, and maintaining the organization’s financial stability and strategic long-term goals. Through fundraising events, grant opportunities, episodic volunteer opportunities, and other avenues the Development Director will solidify the importance and stability of the Kidney Foundation within the Chattanooga community.
This position will be responsible for all aspects of the 4 major fundraising events: Dare to Dance, Turkey Trot, Adopt-a-Box, and TASTE, grant opportunities, and other avenues to ensure both current and long-range financial stability for the organization. Develop and identify committee chairs and members of each fundraising event. Network in the community for opportunities to benefit the mission of the organization through volunteer hours, in-kind gifts, or financial contributions. Provide exceptional customer service and positive experience for all volunteers and donors.
This position requires working closely with volunteers and various members of the community along with the Board of Directors and many Committees. The Development Director will also be cross-trained in all aspects of the organization to be familiar with all organizational functions. The Development Director will work independently while motivating volunteers to reach mutual goals. Upon need, the Development Director may be asked to assist with other areas of the organization to insure the mission of the organization is met.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; specifically to large audiences
- Leadership and organizational skills
- Strong marketing, public relations, customer service, and fundraising experience
- Event planning experience
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups
- Grant proposal-writing skills and grant performance administration
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; specifically Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
