CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR- Blue Monarch

Blue Monarch provides a long-term, residential and therapeutic Christian

community for women and their children to break adverse cycles and rebuild

their families. We currently have the capacity to house sixteen families at one

time. When construction for additional housing is completed in the spring, we

will be able to serve twenty families. Our core program is approximately one

year, and our WINGS Transitional Program allows our graduates to live

independently on our property for an additional year.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Blue Monarch Christian Counselor, you will provide consistent onsite

counseling for our residents. As a Christian Counselor, you will also provide

counseling that is based on Biblical principles, which encourages hope and

healing through Jesus Christ. We believe one can find true freedom from

addiction, not just sobriety. We are offering an opportunity to join a small, but

focused team that is dedicated to serving women and children who are seeking a

healthier lifestyle, free from abuse and addiction.

Reports to: Vice President of Programming and President

Location: Coffee County, TN

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: This role has 5 primary functions

1. Counseling residents

2. Counseling children

3. Providing family counseling

4. Providing group counseling

5. Teaching classes

This position works very closely with the Vice President of Programming, and

the Director of Recovery and Spiritual Growth. The program staff, which also

includes the Resident Coordinator, is small but works as an effective team with

constant communication and group decision-making.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Possesses a Bachelors or Masters degree in Social Work or Psychology

• Is passionate about working with a Christ-centered, Christian non-profit

• Possesses strong communication skills

• Shares Blue Monarch’s values and integrity

• Has compassion for the population Blue Monarch serves

• Is knowledgeable about addiction

• Is comfortable speaking in public

• Is effective teaching classes

• Is experienced counseling children

• Is knowledgeable about the population Blue Monarch serves, preferably

has experience working with same population

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct consistent one-on-one sessions with residents

• Conduct consistent one-one-one sessions with children

• Conduct consistent sessions with families

• Provide counseling that includes extended family members when

necessary

• Provide potential couples counseling for graduates who are exploring a

relationship

• Provide consistent group counseling sessions

• Coordinate with outside counselors when necessary (such as school

counselors)

• Teach classes on anger management and self-esteem

• Participate in the interview process for potential residents

• Testify in court or provide court reports when necessary

• Maintain communication with program staff regarding resident issues

and behavior, respecting the boundaries of privacy and professional ethics

• Provide professional assistance in the event of a crisis

• Attend all Blue Monarch events that require the entire staff

SCHEDULE:

This position will be Monday through Friday, with rare weekend duties when

necessary. The hours will be 8-4 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 10-6

Tuesday and Thursday. The later hours are required to provide counseling for

children after school and for graduates who work offsite. These hours may be

somewhat flexible in order to adequately provide the services needed.
