Position: Staff Interpreter – Full Time
Reports to: Director of Deaf Services
Start Date: Immediately
Job Summary: Under direction of the Director and with knowledge and fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), English-like sign systems and tactile forms of communication (voice to sign/sign to voice), the responsibilities of this position includes providing a full range of expert interpreting services in a variety of settings to include private industry, educational, medical, mental health, and governmental. When not interpreting, the Staff Interpreter will provide back-up assistance in scheduling/coordinating interpreter services and other support, as required. The Staff Interpreter will maintain confidentiality of all assignment-related information including information that is conveyed verbally, in sign language, and written forms.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college required.
Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf with continuing CEU certification or other certification deemed equal to RID, preferred.
3+ years’ experience in providing ASL interpretation services required.
Requires travel within the work day. Valid driver’s licenses and ability to travel with your own transportation is required.
Salary: Non-Exempt, Grade 170 - $36k - $43k
